BEND CENTRAL DISTRICT MULTIMODAL MIXED-USE AREA

In 2014, the City of Bend completed a plan for the Bend Central District Multimodal Mixed-Use Area (MMA).  The plan serves future transportation needs such as biking, walking and transit.  It also provides options for improved connectivity, safe access and movement within the area.

The MMA project looked at ways to improve the ways streets and sidewalks are connected.  This is important for everyone moving around by foot, bike, bus, car, or freight truck.  The plan looked at ways to develop the area in the future to include housing, businesses and other uses.

Some key parts of the plan include:

  • Pedestrian and bicycle projects
  • Proposed transportation network
  • East-west biking and walking connections
  • Parking requirements and management
  • Transportation demand management strategies

In addition to defining the MMA, the project developed changes to the Bend Comprehensive Plan, Transportation System Plan and the Bend Development Code to allow future land use changes and rebuilding in the MMA.
