septic to sewer construction

The Admiral and King Jehu Sewer Project is the third construction phase of the Septic to Sewer Conversion Program.

Residents in these areas applied to the City of Bend to install public sewer in their neighborhoods. The areas approved for design and construction by the Septic to Sewer Committee are as follows:

  1. Admiral Way
  2. King Jehu Way and a portion of King Hezekiah Way

Gravity sewer mains and sewer laterals will be installed in each area to allow approximately 48 properties to decommission their septic systems and connect to the public sewer system.

More information about the Septic to Sewer Program (fees, other projects, permits, etc.) is available online at www.bendoregon.gov/septictosewerprogram.

PROJECT NEWS & UPDATES

Admiral & King Jehu Sewer Project Update - August 8, 2022

Post Date:09/19/2022 4:44 PM

TENTATIVE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES FOR ADMIRAL WAY

  • Rock hammering is ongoing on Admiral Way.
  • Saturday work may occur on August 13 to maintain the project schedule.
  • Intermittent lateral excavation and installation work are ongoing.
  • The sewer main installation is expected to begin next week.
  • Central Electric Cooperative is also doing some necessary utility work.
  • Admiral Way is closed to thru-traffic. Local access to residences is provided. Please drive slowly, as there is a lot going on. If there is heavy machinery in the way of local access, please be patient and make eye contact with the crew. The operator will move the excavator within a few minutes. Please plan your drive time accordingly and expect slight delays while driving through the construction zone. See the detour map below.
  • Minor tree trimming and clearing in the right of way for the main line or lateral installation will continue as needed.
  • Some landscape restoration has already occurred (i.e., sod replacement). Please note that new sod needs to be frequently watered until it is well-established.

TENTATIVE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES FOR KING JEHU WAY AND KING HEZEKIAH WAY

  • Landscape restoration and final cleanup on King Hezekiah and King Jehu will occur over the next couple of weeks. Please note that new sod needs to be frequently watered until it has been well-established. Any irrigation repairs should also be either complete or completed this week. Please contact Alex Doza if you have any issues.
  • The Notice of Operational Completion (NOC) letters were mailed on Friday, July 29.
  • Thank you all for your patience as we completed this important project!

TRAFFIC CONTROL

The map below shows the closure area (solid red line) and detour (blue dashed line). Local access will be provided for homeowners living on the closed streets. You may experience minor delays when driving through the construction zone. If an excavator is in the way, make eye contact or wave, and they are typically good at moving out of the way to let traffic pass. Please proceed with caution when driving in the construction zone. We appreciate your ongoing patience.
