Pre-design Open House for Neff Bicycle & Pedestrian Improvements Project
Community members are invited to the pre-design open house for the Neff Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements Project:
Monday, Oct. 21, 4-6 p.m.
Ensworth Elementary School Library
2150 NE Daggett Ln.
(Please note that the location has changed due to a flood event at the original location.)
An online option will be available starting at 4 p.m. on Oct. 21 through Nov. 4, 2024, at bendoregon.gov/neffpedbike.
The open house will be an opportunity to learn about the project, meet the project team and share safety concerns before project design begins. (Map of proposed project areas below.) The community can provide input about existing safety matters in the proposed project areas in person or online.
Improving the transportation system by focusing on safety is a City Council goal. Creating safer connections between neighborhoods, places of work, schools, parks and businesses, for people who ride bikes, walk or roll, is a City priority. The City is designing a variety of safer and more accessible bike and pedestrian routes throughout the community, including the Neff Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements Project, aimed at improving east/west connectivity in a vital area of Bend.
The project combines three Transportation System Plan “key route” projects along NE Neff Road and NE Norton Avenue for people who ride bikes, walk and roll. “Key Route” is a term that means the route is designed to provide safe and appealing cross-town connections to schools, parks, and other destinations. Examples include off street multi-use paths, buffered, separated, raised and/or painted bike lanes and widened sidewalks.
This project is funded by the voter approved 2020 Transportation GO Bond. Budget limitations may limit the near-term construction improvements built under the proposed schedule. Community input is requested to help prioritize improvements and make travel along this corridor safer for all users.
