Midtown Pedestrian and Bicycle Crossings Project

The Midtown Crossings Project is making travel safer for all users on four key corridors: Greenwood Avenue, Franklin Avenue, Hawthorne Avenue and Second Street.

FRANKLIN AVENUE CONSTRUCTION

PHASE 1 – NIGHT WORK BEGINS MONDAY, MAY 18

The first phase of work on Franklin Avenue will begin Monday, May 18. This initial work is focused on replacing aging water pipes. Work will be completed at night to minimize traffic impacts.

  • WORK AREA: Franklin Avenue from First Street to Fourth Street
  • DATES: May 18 – end of June
  • TIME: Night work only, 7 p.m. -7 a.m.
    • During the day expect normal traffic flow.
  • TWO-WAY ACCESS: lane closures and occasional flagging, but traffic will be open in both directions, including on Franklin Avenue, Fourth, Third, Second and First streets.

What to expect during construction

  • For your safety, please stay out of the construction areas.
  • Plan ahead and allow extra travel time when in the area.
  • Access to businesses will remain open throughout construction.
  • Emergency response access will be maintained at all times.
