Distribution of Trips by Distance: National, State, and County level

The Feb 2022 data for Deschutes County shows the following daily trip totals by distance:

 Trips under 1 mile = 178,421 (25.6%)

Trips of 1-3 miles = 182,611 (26.2%)

Trips of 3-5 miles = 87,593 (12.6%)

Trips of 5-10 miles = 91,352 (13.1%)

Trips of 10-25 miles = 104,252 (14.9%)

Trips of 25-50 miles = 36,692 (5.3%)

Trips greater than 50 miles = 16,809 (2.4%)

Almost 52% of daily trips are less than 3 miles in length. A sizable percentage of those trips could transition to walking or bicycling if good and safe networks are available for those options.
