Two employees check evidence.

The Property and Evidence Unit is an essential program within the Bend Police Department. Maintaining the chain of custody, integrity, and preservation of all seized evidence and property is of utmost importance to our mission of service.

Property is released by appointment only. Please fill out this form or contact the Property & Evidence Unit at (541) 312-7945 or bpdevidence@bendoregon.gov to schedule an appointment. Property releases are only scheduled Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The evidence unit is closed for administrative duties on Wednesdays.

A valid photo ID is required to claim your property. Property will not be released without prior authorization from the investigating officer, District Attorney or Court. Release of firearms requires a background check.

Safekeeping and Found property will be held for 90 days and then disposed of pursuant to ORS 98.245. If you are unable to claim your property, contact Property & Evidence to authorize a named person to claim your item(s) for you.

Please review the Rights and Duties of Finders for more detailed information and procedures for the release of unclaimed found property.
