A police officer drives a motorcycle around a roundabout.

You might see the Traffic team out and about on motorcycles, responding to crashes, or conducting proactive speed enforcement details.

Bend is growing, and the Bend Police Traffic team works to keep everyone (motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians) safe.

In addition to day-to-day operations, the Traffic team also participates in the following:

  • Traffic Safety School, an educational class for motorists who have received traffic citations. This class is designed to provide valuable information about traffic safety, distracted driving, the importance of seat belts, and common causes of crashes. The overall goal of these classes is to improve motorists' knowledge, thereby reducing traffic-related incidents on our roadways. This class is ordered through the Bend Municipal Court. If you have received a traffic citation, please contact them to learn more.
  • Multi-Agency Traffic (MAT) team details, which are designed to target specific driving behaviors known to contribute to crashes. These include cell phone use (distracted driving) and speeding.

  • Crash Reconstruction, which involves determining the cause and fault of fatal and injury motor vehicle crashes.
