The Bend Police Department Cadet program provides supplemental personnel for routine police department activities, broaden the capabilities of the department to handle unusual events and emergencies, enhance public service, and garner citizen support and understanding of the police function through citizen involvement.
Cadet Program
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be 15 to 21 years of age
- If enrolled in a school, must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5
- Copy of high school transcript or certificate of enrollment (if still in school)
- Clear criminal history
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
- Parental approval if under 18
Disqualifiers for Cadet Program
The following will disqualify you from being hired as a Bend Cadet Officer:
- Felony conviction
- Misdemeanor conviction for:
- Domestic violence (DV);
- Crime of dishonesty; and/or,
- Crime that resulted in serious physical injury to another.
- Illegal manufacture, transport, or sale of a controlled substance.
