Many of our neighbors count on clear sidewalks to get to work, school, or bus stops. Without a clear path, it can be tough or even dangerous for people to reach their destinations. When sidewalks aren’t cleared of snow or ice, pedestrians might have to walk in the street, creating a risky situation for both them and drivers. Snow and ice also make it hard for those using mobility devices to navigate. It’s crucial that we, the citizens of Bend, work together to ensure all pedestrians have safe access to sidewalks.
Thank you for helping us keep Bend safe and accessible for everyone!
Snow Removal Guides
Guidelines for Snow Removal
- All commercial properties must clear snow and ice from sidewalks within six (6) daylight hours after snowfall.
- Residential properties have twenty-four (24) hours to clear snow and ice from sidewalks after snowfall.
- When shoveling, keep all snow on your property. Do not move it from the sidewalk into the street.
- Our street crews work hard to avoid plowing snow back onto sidewalks, but it can still happen. If it does, it is still your responsibility to keep the sidewalk clear.
- For help with snow removal, refer to our list of licensed contractors in the Resource Directory section below.
- Learn more about our Street Department’s Winter Operations.
