SUMMARY:Planning for People Streets Study
DESCRIPTION:Come learn about the City’s Planning for People Streets Study. The State of Oregon requires cities with over 100\,000 people\, like Bend\, to allow for “low-car districts” (people streets) in all mixed-use and residential areas the next time those cities update their Transportation System Plan. Bend’s updated Transportation Plan will be completed by 2027. \nPeople Streets are designed for people to walk\, bike\, and roll. To support this\, car traffic may be slowed down\, reduced\, or restricted. We’d love to discuss people street ideas with Downtown businesses – your input will help inform future policy considerations regarding people streets which will weigh impacts to businesses and community benefits. \nIn addition\, the City will be hosting a larger conversation on with Downtown stakeholders after the holidays on additional Downtown topics such as parking\, special events\, the Brooks Street/North Mirror Pond Lot\, the Economic Improvement District (EID)\, and more. \nAttend virtually: https://bendoregon-gov.zoom.us/j/89579848458?pwd=p7aPG54aATUkWYCsgqhr1BHl2EzPNf.1 \nMore details

SUMMARY:Bend's Transportation Plan NE Area Neighborhood Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Bend is growing\, and with that growth comes more people who need to get to work school\, shopping\, social events\, and recreation.  As we grow\, we need a transportation system that grows with us\, helping people get where they need to go while making it easier and safer to drive\, walk\, bike\, and take transit.   \nThat’s why we’re working with residents and stakeholders to create Bend’s Transportation Plan\, a blueprint for a transportation system that will provide more options for getting around while protecting the quality of life that makes Bend a great place.  Bend’s Transportation Plan will identify needed transportation projects and a strategy to fund them.   \nWe’ve identified a framework of major citywide investments.  Now\, we need to hear from you about how we can make moving around your neighborhood safer and more convenient. \nThe workshop will: \n\nShare progress on Bend’s Transportation Plan\, including goals and the recommended citywide transportation framework.\nGather input on neighborhood-level transportation needs and ideas.\nGather input on the vision for transportation in each of Bend’s neighborhoods.

SUMMARY:Open House - Pilot Butte Fire Station Proposal
DESCRIPTION:The Deschutes County Rural Fire Protection District #2 (the District) is planning to build a new fire station on NE 15th\, adjacent to the Bend Police headquarters. The District invites the community to an Open House on Tuesday\, March 27\, from 4:00PM until 6:00PM\, at the City of Bend Municipal Court (located inside the Bend Police headquarters\, 555 NE 15th)\, to view the preliminary drawings and address any questions or concerns. \nThe District is a taxing entity which surrounds the City of Bend and combines resources with the Bend Fire Department to provide emergency services to all residents of the District and City. \nThe proposed new fire station will not only meet the needs of emergency responders but will also be a source of pride for the community and will complement the unique aspects of the Pilot Butte neighborhood. \nThe proposed station will be similar in appearance to the original downtown Bend fire station\, with a brick façade and many of the design features of early 20th century architecture. At over 9\,000 square feet\, this structure can house 4 response vehicles and will help provide faster emergency services to the central part of the city. Designed to meet current seismic code standards\, the structure will also be highly energy efficient.
