DESCRIPTION:The Human Library – Get to Know Your Neighbors  3 – 5 p.m. Open Space Event Studios\, 220 NE Lafayette Avenue\, Bend \nHosted by: Embrace Bend \nThis event is aimed at fostering a stronger sense of community and promoting understanding within our community. Come anytime between 3-5 p.m. This innovative event draws inspiration from traditional libraries\, allowing community members to “check out” their neighbors as if they were books. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations\, facilitated by low-risk prompts designed to reduce psychological harm and encourage open dialogue. The primary objective of this event is to humanize one another and dismantle both conscious and unconscious biases we may carry. By encouraging people to connect with their community neighbors\, we aspire to foster personal growth\, expand knowledge\, and deepen understanding both of others and ourselves. The Group wants to hear from BILAPOC communities about their concerns and lived experiences and to share those with the decision makers in Central Oregon. The goal is to push for better accountability\, understanding\, and above all else\, action on the part of City and County officials when concerns and injustices held by the prioritized populations are brought to their attention.
