URAB 7 Update

The Core Area Project is nearing the finish line, the Urban Renewal Advisory Board (URAB) has provided direction on a variety of implementation strategies to support the vision and implement the Guiding Principles for the area such as creating a place where you can live, work, and play in the Core Area. Below are the key implementation actions identified for the area:

  • Establish a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District
  • Update the Development Code & Zoning
  • Create Development Incentive Programs
  • Design and Build Key Infrastructure and Public Realm Amenities
  • Update Street Standards and Mobility Guidelines
  • Involve Stakeholders in Future Program & Policy Development

At their meeting on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, the board reviewed both an Action Plan to implement the recommendations above as well as draft components of an Urban Renewal Plan and Report. A key implementation strategy identified for the area is to establish a TIF District by adopting an Urban Renewal Plan and Report. The goal is to have this plan adopted by Summer 2020 so that the new TIF District would be in place by January 1, 2021.

The URAB 7 presentation slides are available on the URAB webpage.
