The Environment and Climate Committee advises City Council on environmental stewardship, climate action, and the implementation of Bend’s Community Climate Action Plan.
What We Do
- Support Climate Action
Develop recommendations that help implement the goals and strategies outlined in Bend’s Community Climate Action Plan. - Advise on Environmental Policies
Provide input on plans, ordinances, policies, and City actions related to natural resources, environmental stewardship, and sustainability. - Monitor Progress
Review implementation of the Community Climate Action Plan and provide updates and recommendations to City Council. - Inform City Priorities
Provide input during Council goal setting and budgeting processes on issues related to climate action, natural resources, and the environment. - Build Partnerships
Support collaboration with community organizations, businesses, institutions, and other partners to help advance environmental and climate goals.

Environmental stewardship and climate action help support a healthy, resilient community. The Environment and Climate Committee provides expertise, community perspectives, and recommendations that help guide the City’s environmental and climate-related work and support long-term community goals.
Community Climate Action Plan
The Environment and Climate Committee was established to help support implementation of Bend’s Community Climate Action Plan and participate in future plan updates.
The plan provides a roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening community resilience, and supporting a sustainable future for Bend.
Members and Membership
The Environment and Climate Committee consists of nine voting members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. Members serve four-year terms and bring a variety of professional and lived experiences related to environmental stewardship, sustainability, climate action, energy, transportation, natural resources, environmental justice, and environmental policy.
The committee is designed to include diverse perspectives that help inform recommendations and support the implementation of the Community Climate Action Plan.
