Veterans’ Preference
In accordance with Oregon law, applicants with an honorable non-disabled or disabled discharge status may qualify for Veterans’ Preference.
To qualify for veterans’ preference (non-disabled) you must submit a copy of your Certificate of Release of Discharge from Active Duty (DD214/DD215) that reflects your “Honorable” separation status. To qualify for additional preference as a disabled veteran you must submit a Certificate of Release of Discharge from Active Duty (DD215/DD215) and an employment preference or eligibility letter from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
Veterans’ preference cannot be awarded without required documentation, this documentation must be submitted prior to the closing date of the recruitment. Documentation can be uploaded to your application or sent to the City of Bend Human Resource department.
