Human Rights and Equity Commission Regular Meeting
Bend City Hall – Council Chambers
AgendaThe Human Rights and Equity Commission (HREC) helps ensure historically marginalized and underrepresented communities have access to City programs and services, and representation in City decision-making.
The Human Rights and Equity Commission was created by City Council to help ensure all community members can participate in civic life and access City programs and services. The Commission advises City leaders on human rights, equity, inclusion, and belonging and helps identify opportunities to make Bend more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
For more information about the Commission, please review the code and ordinance that established the Human Rights and Equity Commission or contact hrec@bendoregon.gov.
Building a more equitable and inclusive Bend requires understanding how City decisions affect different people and communities. HREC helps connect community experiences with City decision-making, with particular attention to people who may face barriers to access or participation.
By strengthening community voices and identifying potential impacts to City initiatives, HREC helps the City make more informed decisions and build trust with the community.
HREC consists of 9 to 13 commissioners and is intended to reflect the diversity of Bend, with a majority of commissioners identifying with one or more historically marginalized, underrepresented, or underserved communities.
Commissioners serve four-year terms.
