Bend Fire & Rescue has a fleet of specialized vehicles designed to handle many types of emergencies. From fighting fires to performing rescues and providing medical care, each unit is equipped with the right tools and staffed by skilled professionals. This ensures we can respond quickly and effectively to protect our community when it matters most.
Fire Engine
A versatile emergency vehicle that delivers firefighters, water, and equipment to fires and other emergencies. Also equipped for advanced life support calls and will respond to medical emergencies with an ambulance or as a single response

Ambulance
Responds to medical emergencies and transports patients. Bend Fire & Rescue operates both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances across a 1,450-square-mile service area.

Wildland Engine
Specialized for off-road firefighting in wildland and urban interface areas. Used for brush, grass, and forest fires, and often deployed statewide.
Type 3 Wildland Engine Stats:
- Capacity: 750-1,000 gallons
- Terrain: High clearance for off-road
- Purpose: Brush Fire
- Deployment: Local and statewide wildfire support
Type 6 Wildland Engine Stats:
- Capacity: 150-300 gallons
- Terrain: High clearance and spring loaded for off-road
- Purpose: Initial wildland attack and brush patrol
- Deployment: Local and statewide wildfire support
Water Tender
Transports large volumes of water to fire scenes without hydrant access. Supports engines and brush rigs by refilling their tanks.

- Capacity: 3,000 gallons
- Use Case: Rural or remote fires
Ladder Truck
Equipped with a 100-foot aerial ladder and powerful tools for rescue and firefighting. Handles complex emergencies and technical rescues.

- Carries: Jaws of Life, hydraulic rescue tools, cribbing, air cylinders, ladders

Heavy Rescue
A mobile toolbox for technical rescue operations. Supports incidents like ice rescues, urban search and rescue, and extended hazardous operations.

- Scenarios: Confined space, trench, rope, and ice rescues
- Role: Specialized support for complex emergencies
Support Response Vehicle
Handles non-life-threatening calls to keep fire engines available for critical emergencies. Also used for fire investigations.

- Personnel: Deputy Fire Marshal
Command Vehicle
Mobile command center for managing emergency scenes. Coordinates crews, tracks personnel, and ensures safe and effective incident response.
