Admiral & King Jehu Sewer Project Update – May 30, 2022

TENTATIVE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES (KING HEZEKIAH WAY & KING JEHU WAY)

  • In general, construction sequencing will begin on King Hezekiah Way, followed by King Jehu Way, and then on Admiral Way.
  • Locate markings are painted on the ground, indicating where underground utilities are located. These markings are constantly being refreshed due to the excavation activities; you may see locate surveyors on-site on a regular basis.
  • Survey staking is ongoing on King Jehu and Admiral Way; please do not move or remove any wooden survey stakes. Please note that most lateral stakes are placed five feet offset from the actual spot of the lateral. This is to communicate to the contractors the actual location of the lateral without having to remove the wooden stake.
  • Minor tree trimming activities and clearing will occur as needed. At the end of the project, the crews will tidy anything that was cleared or trimmed and still looks “rough.”
  • Sewer main and lateral installation on King Jehu is ongoing.
  • Finish repair work on the maintenance hole at the King Solomon/King Hezekiah intersection will tentatively occur from June 6 – June 8. Access will continue to be maintained; however, you may see a flagger or spotter helping direct traffic when necessary.
  • Franchise utilities are relocating their facilities as needed concurrent with sewer construction activities.
  • Traffic control measures remain in place.

PROJECT PHOTO

Below is a photo of the sewer trench on the southern portion of King Jehu. The green tape that is laid across the trench is called “marking tape” and is required on all sewer mains and laterals. It is used to help identify (for any future excavation, for example) that there is a buried sewer below it. The tape is stretchable to approximately seven times its original size so that if it is picked up with an excavator, it stretches rather than breaks.

TRAFFIC CONTROL

Traffic control signs have been staged and are ongoing on King Hezekiah and King Jehu. The map below shows the closure area (solid red line) and detour (blue dashed line). Local access will be provided on King Jehu Way, Hezekiah Way, and King Solomon Court for homeowners living on those streets. Please proceed with caution when driving in the construction zone.

Road Closed to Thru Traffic / Local Access Only

Local traffic (meaning homeowners who live adjacent to the construction zone) can drive past this sign to access their driveways/homes. Please use extreme caution when driving in the construction zone. Make eye contact with the equipment operators so that you know it is safe to pass. We appreciate your ongoing patience.
