Bridge Creek pipeline project underway
Bend City Councilors and community members officially kicked-off the Bridge Creek Pipeline Replacement Project by adding their signatures to the very first piece of pipe to go in the ground. The event took place on Skyliners Road in front of Skyliners Lodge.
The single pipeline replaces two existing parallel pipelines, 12 and 14 inches in diameter, that carry water 10 miles from the Bridge Creek source to Bend’s water chlorination facility. The pipelines were built in the 1920s and 1950s and are in poor condition. The new pipeline will allow the city to keep more water in Tumalo Creek while still providing high quality drinking water to residents from the same source the city has been using since 1926.
