Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – April 8, 2022

SAFETY FIRST

The Bend Marathon will bring additional traffic to the area near Newport Avenue from April 9 – 10. Although the marathon course does not directly impact Newport Avenue, there may be an increase in traffic along the detour routes.

Newport Avenue, between College Way and Juniper Street, and 9th Street and 10th street are now open to two-way traffic. Final landscaping and concrete work in these areas will be ongoing and may require traffic lane adjustments at times. Flaggers, cones, and barrels will be in the roadway intermittently. Please be aware of these activities in the upcoming weeks.

As with all major road changes, approach all intersections with additional awareness as drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians get familiar with the new traffic detour.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR APRIL 7 – APRIL 14

Segment 2A was opened the morning of April 7. Segment 5 is opening to two-way traffic with intermittent flagging and lane shifts on Saturday, April 9.
