Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – August 5, 2022
SAFETY FIRST
Cascade Natural Gas will be performing work in the vicinity of the Newport Corridor Improvements project the week of August 8. This work will require the replacement of temporary patching asphalt on Ogden Avenue, 15th Street, Portland Avenue, and College Way. There may be temporary flagging or road closures with this work.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR AUGUST 4 – AUGUST 11

Above: Landscaping of Segments 2A & 2B continues. Stormwater planters and green buffers are installed with native plants that improve water filtration and improve infiltration into the soil.
Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 2C (12th Street & Newport Avenue Intersection)
- Franchise utility relocation continues at 12th Street.
- Replacement of the Storm mainline and structures continues.
Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 3 (12th Street to 14th Street)
- Replacement of the water main line continues.

Traffic Closures and Changes
- Newport Avenue, west of 11th Street to 14th Street, is closed.
- 12th Street, north and south of Newport Avenue, will be closed.
- The northbound leg of the 14th Street roundabout is closed.

Access to all businesses along Newport Avenue will be open through construction.
GENERAL PROJECT NOTES
- Access to all area businesses along the construction corridor will be maintained.
- Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
- Daytime work hours are in effect from 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
- The ‘Tree Preservation and Removal Overview Exhibits’ can be found on the project website. These exhibits provide design details about each tree being removed and where new trees will be planted.
- There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.
PROJECT COMMUNICATIONS
- EMS, buses, and other delivery/service providers have been included in the project updates distribution list.
- Please help us spread the word to your clients, customers, and delivery personnel regarding detouring and closures.
- Share the project website (provided below), where others can also sign up for project updates.
