Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – July 8, 2022
SAFETY FIRST
The graphic below is an example of the 11th Street and Newport Avenue temporary roundabout. This roundabout utilizes a section of the future “dogbone” roundabout that will be completed in Segment 2C. Enter the roundabout traveling counterclockwise, yielding to cars already within the roundabout. You may exit the roundabout onto northbound 11th Street, southbound 11th Street, or eastbound Newport Avenue only. Newport Avenue westbound is closed to traffic at the northwest corner of the temporary roundabout; please follow the appropriate detour paths. The eastbound approach lane on Newport Avenue is for traffic exiting the Newport Avenue Market parking lot. Please observe the stop sign on the southwest corner of the temporary roundabout.

Our team is committed to keeping local EMS services informed of changes in detours and temporary road closures. The fire department, police, and sheriff’s office are notified weekly, and in some cases more often, of all changes that may affect their access to various neighborhoods. Our goal is to be sure they know exactly how their teams can access areas within the construction project area.
