Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – May 19, 2023
SAFETY FIRST
Roadway striping of the Newport Corridor will be performed on May 24 through May 26. During this time, drive cautiously and avoid driving over the fresh paint for at least 20 minutes. As we near the end of construction, continue to follow all road closure signs. On Friday, May 26, once the final segment is safe for public traffic, crews will remove all traffic control devices, officially opening all of Newport Avenue to traffic.
After the final segment of Newport Avenue is opened, final landscaping activities will continue for the next few weeks along Newport Avenue from 13th Street to Juniper St. This work may require lane shifts and parking restrictions during work hours. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR MAY 18 – MAY 26
On Friday, May 26, crews will complete the striping of Newport Avenue, officially opening the final segment of the Newport Corridor Improvements Project to the public.

Over the last two years, crews removed and installed nearly 7.5 miles of Sewer, Stormwater, and Water pipe beneath just one mile of roadway. The portion of the Deschutes River that runs through Bend from River Rim Park to Sawyer Park is only 7.13 miles.
