Utility Department Emergency Response Training Exercise
On November 10, 2020, a potential chemical leak emergency response exercise involving a City of Bend Utility Department building began at 8:30 a.m. The Utility Department assumed the Incident Command System (ISC) structure, which included the Incident Commander; Information Officer; Liaison Officer; Safety Officer; Operations Section Chief; Planning Section Chief; Logistic Section Chief; Finance Administration Section Chief; and back-up personnel.
During the exercise, each section was given time to prepare a plan and execute details centric to their section. Each section reported back to the entire group their efforts.
Agency partner proxies were included in the exercise simulating the actual course of events, contacts, resources, and communications in a real emergency involving the Utility Department. In total, fifteen Utility Department staff members were trained during the event. The exercise concluded at 10:15 a.m.
