Wilson Avenue Corridor Project Update – April 8, 2024
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: April 6 – April 13
STAGE 2 Improvements: Second Street to Fourth Street
Crews worked Saturday, April 6 to finish subgrade work on the eastside of Wilson Avenue.
- Crews will finish tie-in work on the new waterline on the eastside of Wilson Avenue.
- Stormwater installation work will begin between Fourth and Fifth Street on Wilson Avenue.
- Utilities relocation work will continue.
- Crews will pour curbs on the northeast and southeast corners of Third Street and Wilson Avenue.
- Excavation work will continue along Wilson Avenue, between Second and Third streets.
TRAFFIC CHANGE IN EFFECT:
Traffic light at Third Street and Wilson Avenue converted to a temporary stop sign during construction
The traffic signal at Third Street and Wilson Avenue has been temporarily replaced with a stop sign as part of the Wilson Avenue Corridor Project. For those traveling eastbound on Wilson Avenue at the Third Street intersection, the only option will be a right turn to go southbound on Third Street; there will be no left turn option to go northbound on Third Street. The removal of the signal places construction a month ahead of schedule, with completion expected in May.
The new traffic signal will enhance traffic flows and improve both driver and pedestrian safety.
