Wilson Avenue Corridor Project Update – December 8, 2023

SAFETY FIRST

Traffic Change Beginning Friday, December 8:

A southbound left turn closure at the intersection of Third Street and Wilson Avenue begins on December 8. The closure is necessitated by a technical issue with the traffic signal and is a proactive measure to preserve the overall function and efficiency of the signal system. During the closure, motorists are advised to follow the designated detour route designed to minimize disruptions and facilitate smooth traffic flow. Vehicles will be rerouted south on Third Street, east on Reed Market Road and then north on Ninth Street. 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Week of December 11 – December 15

STAGE 2 Improvements: Second Street to Fourth Street 

• Crews will be tying in the new waterline in the Wilson Avenue and Third Street intersection.
• Installation work on the foundations for new traffic signals will continue.
• Crews will be installing stormwater infrastructure on the northside of Wilson Avenue between Second and Third streets.

• Safer connections for pedestrians and bicyclists at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Second Street.
• Upgraded signal and protected intersection design for bikes at the intersection of Third Street and Wilson Avenue.
• Infrastructure improvements, including the replacement of aging waterlines and installation of stormwater infrastructure.

Road Closure 

• Westbound Wilson Avenue is closed to all traffic between Ninth Street and Hill Street. 
• The Third Street southbound left turn lane at the intersection of Wilson Avenue is closed.

GENERAL PROJECT NOTES 

• Access to all area businesses along the construction area will be maintained.
• Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
• Daytime work hours are in effect from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. 
• There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.
