Wilson Avenue Corridor Project Update – November 4, 2022
SAFETY FIRST
Daylight savings ends Sunday, November 6, at 2:00 AM, and clocks will be set back an hour. Here are some tips for driving at dusk.
- Visibility is reduced in the dark, meaning less time to react to something ahead. Increase your following distance and adjust your speed.
- Remember that some road users, particularly cyclists and pedestrians, might be more challenging to see in the dark.
- Be particularly mindful of darkness increasing risk levels between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM as children make their way home from school and people travel home from work.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – Modernization of 9th Street to 15th Street
- Two-way traffic on Wilson Avenue is expected to open the week of November 7.
- Please be prepared for flaggers coordinating traffic control and up to 20-minute delays at the Wilson Avenue and 15th Street intersection.
November 7 through November 11
- Landscapers will continue placing soil, boulders, rock mulch, and plantings through mid-November.
- Crews will be excavating and placing rock for the new pedestrian path.
- Rock will be laid for the new pedestrian trail along Wilson Avenue and Ponderosa Park.
An interactive map of closures and detours can be found online at www.bendoregon.gov/traffic.
GENERAL PROJECT NOTES
Please be prepared for flaggers coordinating traffic control and up to 20-minute delays around the intersection of Wilson Avenue and 15th Street. Drivers will have full access, and no significant impacts are anticipated to 15th Street until late February 2023.
