Inside::Out People’s Choice Award
On First Friday, September 7th at 6 pm in Bend City Hall, one of 14 artists and environmental organizations will be presented the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD for best portraying the show theme, “Bend’s external environment inspires our internal environment (mental, physical, emotional & spiritual).”
The winner is determined by ballots completed by visitors to each First Friday of the exhibit. Artists were paired with The Environmental Center and its members to interpret the theme. The winning artist and organization team will receive a specially designed framed award. Previous winners of the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD have been Vicki Shuck/Bend 2030 “Strong Community” for PLACE::12, Helen Brisson/Healthy Families of the High Desert for GROWING::UP and Bryan Hilts for BONDING::WALLS.
INSIDE::OUT artists and organizations include Kay Baker and Gordon Baker~Oregon Natural Desert Association, Helen Brisson~The Environmental Center, Eileen Carlton~Trout Unlimited–Deschutes Chapter, Linda Gillard~Bend 2030 Quality Environment, David Kinker~Oregon Wild, Donna Lutzky~ Commute Options, Mary Marquiss~East Cascades Audubon Society, Diane Miyauchi~The Trust for Public Land, Christopher Nolte~Bend Area Habitat for Humanity, Jennifer Poncia~1000 Friends of Oregon, Janelle Rebick~Sierra Club–Juniper Group, Vicki Roadman~Deschutes Land Trust, and Sara Wiener~Upper Deschutes Watershed Council.
Following the award presentation at 7 pm, a drawing for free gift baskets. The public is invited to participate but they must be present to win.
The INSIDE::OUT Art Show is up at Bend City Hall from until September 28, 2012, opened First Fridays from 5—8 pm and Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The next show, UNSEEN::WORLD, will open October 5 and partners with Bend Research and the Bend Science Station. The theme is “Bend’s unseen world inspires community.”
