Franklin’s Corner Community Garden
Franklin’s Corner is an entirely organic community garden, utilizes water wise conservation techniques, and serves the neighborhood in which it is located.
At the foundation, this is a storm water infiltration system. The less technical term is a rain garden. It is design to capture, hold and naturally treat storm water in the neighborhood, which was having a negative impact. This filtered and clean storm water will eventually rejoin our groundwater supply.
The lot had been irrigated turf for decades, but was never used for any meaningful purpose. It is situated in a high visibility area, so aesthetics of the completed garden are very important for the surrounding neighborhood throughout the different seasons. Likewise, it is situated in what is considered a banana-belt. This geographic area provides an almost ideal growing situation in our high desert climate.
This community garden features an edible food forest which is open to the entire neighborhood to care for and to utilize without cost. Plots are available for rent for the growing seasons to anyone. Some plots are sponsored to assist families who are low income, so that they are able to grow organic fruits and vegetables to serve at their own tables.

Rent a Plot
Seasonal fee of the plots is $25 (10′ x 10′) and accessible beds for those with limited mobility or disabilities are $15 (10′ x 3′). Plot fees are non-refundable and help offset the cost of irrigation on the site. Please see details on reserving a plot below.
Compost area and tools are available upon request.
Sponsor a Plot
Help a family who may not otherwise have the ability or means to learn to garden for themselves. We provide them the tools for success, you can help make it a reality!
If you would like to assist or are in need of a sponsored plot, please contact the garden coordinator at VolunteerNow@bendoregon.gov.
Reserving a Plot
Plot reservation for the 2025 season is now closed.
Returning gardeners are given preference until April 15, 2025, at which time remaining plots will be assigned to new gardeners based on the order of receipt of their plot request. New gardeners living in the Larkspur and Orchard district areas will be given preference. All potential gardeners will be notified by email of their proposed assigned plot with a link to provide electronic payment of the plot fee and to sign an electronic waiver form. A wait list will be maintained on a first come first serve basis if no plot is available at the time an application is received.
To secure a plot, potential gardeners must:
- Pay their non-refundable plot fee and sign the electronic waiver by 5pm on April 28, 2025
- Attend Opening Day on May 3, 2025, unless alternate arrangements are made
Plots with unpaid fees and/or unsigned waivers will be released to those on the waitlist on April 29, 2025. Gardeners on the waitlist who are contacted on April 29 will have until Opening Day on May 3rd to provide payment and sign the waiver. Additionally, gardeners who do not attend Opening Day on May 3, 2025, without making alternate arrangements will forfeit their plot fee and their plot will be reassigned to the next available gardener on the waitlist.
Gardeners with assigned plots can officially garden at Franklin’s Corner Community Garden (FCCG) after attending Opening Day, May 3rd, 2025.
