AHAC December 8, 2021 Meeting Synopsis
At the December 8, 2021 Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) meeting, committee members heard proposals from housing developers that are requesting funds to bring additional affordable units to the City of Bend. AHAC serves as a technical resource providing policy, code, and funding recommendations to City Council. AHAC members have a high degree of technical expertise in affordable housing development and operation or have had a personal experience living in affordable housing. AHAC is a volunteer committee, appointed by City Council, with a three-year term commitment.
The developer requests were:
- KOR Community Land Trust – Poplar Street Pre-Development and Infrastructure for $358,700
- KOR Community Land Trust – Crescita Down Payment Assistance for Homebuyers $75,000
- Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity – Watercress Townhomes Down Payment Assistance for Homebuyers for $200,000
- Housing Impact, LLC – Cleveland Commons Permanent Supportive Housing Development Construction for $700,000
- Related Northwest – 27th & Ferguson Apartment Construction $1,000,000
An estimated $1 million from the Affordable Housing Fund and $350,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CBDG) funds are available for award distribution. Discussion of the proposals will be heard on January 12, 2022 at the next monthly AHAC meeting. Award distributions will be announced early in 2022. AHAC meetings are public and community members are welcome to attend.
