Billing Delay Status Update
The City of Bend utility bills continue to be delayed in reaching customers. This delay is related to the May 2021 utility billing software conversion. Issues were isolated to bill generation and delivery, which took several months to identify and resolve with the vendor.
While those issues are now resolved, they did create a billing delay. We are still working to recover from that situation.
Utility Billing staff are focused on building back to the standard billing timeline and expect to be caught up by the end of May 2022.
Currently, bills are approximately 45 days delayed in reaching customers. All payments are being processed and reflected on customer accounts, regardless of the payment method. This includes automatic payments, drop-boxes located at City Hall and the Utility Billing office, phone or mail, and lobby drop-off. Customers on auto-pay can access the website at bendoregon.gov/utilitybilling for information on when to expect their bank payments to be drafted.
The City has temporarily suspended water service shut-offs and is not assessing late or delinquent fees during the billing delay period.
Utility Billing staff are available to assist if you have questions about your account or believe that you may have missed a payment. Utility Billing staff are available in person or by phone, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., excluding holidays.
