City of Bend receives approval for wellhead protection area update

The City of Bend Public Works Department has received certification from the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) Drinking Water Program on its enhanced wellhead protection area delineations for city drinking water wells. These refined and updated wellhead protection areas will help the City, landowners, developers, regulating agencies and others to better understand and protect our groundwater supplies from contamination. Owners of private stormwater facilities may also be interested as specific stormwater regulations apply in these delineated areas.

The technical report, in addition to the new maps, are available on the City’s website by following the “Wellhead Delineation Certification & TM” link on the City’s stormwater webpage: (http://www.ci.bend.or.us/depts/public_works/stormwater/what_s_new.html). The interactive Bend GIS map that includes the new delineations is located at: http://www.ci.bend.or.us/gis_and_mapping/interactive_map.html, and the map files will be uploaded into the Department of Environmental Quality’s Facility Profiler mapping tool at: http://deq12.deq.state.or.us/fp20/
