City of Bend to Host Free Workshops on “Watershed Wise” Landscaping
Throughout the month of March, the City of Bend will host a series of five free online workshops on “Watershed Wise” landscaping for the community. This holistic approach to urban landscaping builds healthy, resilient gardens that prevent irrigation runoff and help save water and reduce pollutants that could flow into stormdrains or the river.
The City is offering these workshops to help educate the community on these topics ahead of the growing season:
- Watershed Wise Landscaping Basics, 7-8 p.m. on March 4, 2021
- Building Healthy Soil, 7-8 p.m. on March 11, 2021
- Irrigating Efficiently, 7-8 p.m. on March 18, 2021
- Watershed Wise Garden Design, 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. on March 20, 2021
- Capturing Rainwater, 7-8 p.m. in March 25, 2021
More information and registration are available at www.WaterWiseTips.org.
Registration is required to participate in the online workshops. Workshops are limited to 95 attendees. If a workshop is full, individuals can sign up on a waitlist to be notified if an opening becomes available.
“Watershed Wise landscaping demonstrates how conserving water through smart irrigation and intentional landscape design complements efforts to preserve the quality of our local waterways,” said Water Conservation Program Manager Dan Denning. “These workshops will give landscapers and homeowners the tips and inspiration they need to create beautiful landscapes with a purpose.”
This EPA WaterSense award-winning series is brought to the Bend community through a collaboration between the City’s Clean Water Works and WaterWise programs. It is presented by the Green Gardens Group.
