City to hold workshop on sewer charges
The City of Bend is holding a workshop on a proposed Extra Strength Charge (ESC) sewer methodology. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Bend City Hall, 710 NW Wall St.
The updating of the City’s ESC policy would categorize businesses by the strength of the sewer effluent that is discharged from a business into the City sewer system. Rates will vary for the various tiers under consideration. The City currently has an ESC but it is not equitable when considering the wastewater strength of all dischargers.
At the workshop, staff will provide a summary of the draft policy. After the presentation there will be an opportunity for the public to voice questions, comments and concerns in an informal manner with staff and the Council. As these changes will impact our residential and business customers, the City wants to ensure that potentially affected businesses are aware of the proposed changes and that the public has an opportunity to become involved in updating the ESC policy.
