Curb Ramp Work near Franklin and 8th begins March 22

Starting Tuesday, March 22, City of Bend crews will be working on the curb ramps and pedestrian refuges (islands in the middle of the road where pedestrians can stop while crossing the road) near the roundabout at NE Franklin Avenue and NE 8th Street. This will require some short detours and cause some traffic delays near the intersection this week. Occasional, brief closures may continue into the first week of April.

The roundabout circle will remain open during the work. Short road sections approaching and exiting the roundabout will be closed, one leg at a time, for several hours at a time.

The first section to close Tuesday, March 22, will be the eastbound lane on Franklin Avenue, approaching the roundabout. Work will progress counter-clockwise around the intersection. Detours will be marked. Expect some delays or avoid the area if possible. Please watch for crews and drive with extra caution.

This work will bring curb ramps and pedestrian refuges in the median up to compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.
