Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – April 29, 2023

SAFETY FIRST

The construction area is really starting to take shape! The concrete sidewalks and ramps that are being poured over the coming weeks have a specific cure time to provide an optimal life expectancy. Pedestrians should follow all designated routes around the newly formed ramps and sidewalks. The exterior of the concrete may appear dry but could still be curing beneath the surface.

Paving takes place next week! Each morning during paving, crews will apply a liquid tack coat to each layer of asphalt. Until this tack coat is covered, pedestrians and vehicles must stay off the roadway. The material adheres to footwear and tires, which will track onto the new concrete sidewalks or into homes and businesses.
