Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – August 6, 2021

SAFETY FIRST

We are still hearing from residents that motor vehicles are traveling at excessive speeds through local neighborhoods. Kids are still out of school, work at home is still commonplace, and these streets can be narrow. Please continue to allow more time to reach your destination, observe speed limits and follow detours.

Crews are working hard to finish the paving on Nashville Ave, but the asphalt is laid at temperatures in excess of 150° F. Like concrete, it requires time to set properly for optimal lifespan and quality. Please avoid using any freshly paved surfaces until traffic control devices are removed.

On Saturday, August 7, the concrete contractor will be working typical workday hours.

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION KIOSK

The City’s informational kiosk will be open in front of Newport Market on Tuesday, August 10, from 12:00 PM-1:30 PM. You are welcome to stop by and meet with our team to answer any questions regarding this project.
