Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – December 23, 2022
Weekly project emails will now resume in preparation for the final segment of construction along the corridor. Our Public Involvement Team continues to be available for questions via email or the project phone line.
SAFETY FIRST
Recent snowfall appeared to cause confusion regarding the direction of travel around the new dogbone roundabout at 11th Street & 12th Street. As a result, orange construction barrels were recently installed at both crosswalks to immediately prevent vehicles from continuing around the ends of the roundabout in unsafe movements and provide enhanced safety to pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles. We are currently procuring materials for a more permanent solution at these locations.
There may be orange construction cones and barrels throughout the work area. Even though construction crews may not be currently working in all areas of the project limits, these cones indicate hazards or equipment. Please use caution while driving and expect temporary lane shifts and minor delays in these segments.
