Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – January 6, 2023
SAFETY FIRST
To maintain safe local roads for residents, bicyclists, and pedestrians, Milwaukee Avenue will be limited to one-way eastbound traffic only between 15th Street & 12th Street, beginning Monday, January 9, 2023, at 7:00 AM. Temporary barricades along Milwaukee will be installed as a protected pedestrian path where sidewalks are not present. Please follow all marked detour routes, allow for additional travel times, and follow all posted speed limits. The below map details the closure as well as the traffic changes. Please utilize primary detour routes on Galveston Avenue and Portland Avenue around the construction area. Businesses will be open throughout construction.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR JANUARY 5 – JANUARY 12
Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 4 (14th Street Roundabout to Knoxville Boulevard)
- Construction of Segment 4 (Knoxville Boulevard through the 14th Street roundabout) is anticipated to commence on Monday, January 9, weather permitting, with a full road closure along Newport Avenue within this segment (see project map below).
- Clearing and grubbing begins
- Demolition of existing roadway features begins.
- Installation of Sewer and Water bypass systems.

GENERAL PROJECT NOTES
- Access to all area businesses along the construction corridor will be maintained.
- Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
- Daytime work hours are in effect from 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
- The ‘Tree Preservation and Removal Overview Exhibits’ can be found on the project website. These exhibits provide design details about each tree being removed and where new trees will be planted.
- There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.
PROJECT COMMUNICATIONS
- EMS, buses, and other delivery/service providers have been included in the project updates distribution list.
- Please help us spread the word to your clients, customers, and delivery personnel regarding detouring and closures.
