Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – May 27, 2021

SAFETY FIRST

There is no scheduled construction on Memorial Day, May 31. Though the site will not be active, there will be vehicles moving in and out performing maintenance tasks. For your safety, we ask that you do not enter the construction zone.

Pedestrians should follow designated paths and crossings. Pedestrian crossings are subject to change throughout the course of construction. When near the construction site, be aware of equipment and construction crews as they are constantly on the move.

As we go into the holiday weekend, there can be added traffic with people visiting Bend. When traveling near the project, visitors may not be accustomed to the traffic changes that are in place. Use caution when approaching the area detour routes.

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION KIOSK

On Tuesday, June 1, the City will continue its informational kiosk in front of Newport Market from noon to 1:30 PM. Please stop by with your questions for the City, design, and construction representative team.

NASHVILLE/NEWPORT CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS SCHEDULED CONSTRUCTION – SEGMENT 1

Week of May 27 – June 3

  • Excavation of storm planters continues near the intersection of Nashville Ave. and Harmon Blvd.
  • Completed storm planters are being lined with geotextile materials and filled with granular gravel backfill and planter media. Planting in these areas is in planning; continue following our updates for those dates.
  • Sewer system structures and mainlines are being installed, meaning sewer bypass pumps are still active. These pumps are on sensors to allow for shut down when the system demand is low.
