Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – September 16, 2022
SAFETY FIRST
With the completion of the dogbone roundabout on Newport Avenue, between 11th Street and 12th Street, major traffic pattern changes will require some time for drivers, bikers, and pedestrians to adjust. Please pay extra attention when entering this area and follow all traffic signs and markings. The below graphic shows the turning options for each portion of the dogbone. Reviewing this will inform you of how to optimally use the dogbone.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER 15 – SEPTEMBER 22
For the safety of all road users, a temporary ‘No Parking’ area has been established along the south side of Milwaukee Avenue between 12th Street and 14th Street.
Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 2C (12th Street & Newport Avenue Intersection)
- Ongoing landscaping activities continue along Newport Avenue.
- Concrete forms will be built North of the Newport Avenue and 12th Street intersection.
- The 11th Street median within the dogbone will be cleaned of temporary asphalt, and concrete curbs will be installed for the planter.
Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 3 (12th Street to 14th Street)
- Stormwater planter walls are formed, and concrete is poured. There are two planters in the segment being built sequentially.
- Concrete curbs are poured.
- Concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons are prepped, formed, and poured.
- Stormwater system connections will be completed from the planters.

Traffic Closures and Changes
- Newport Avenue, west of 12th Street to 14th Street, is closed.
- 13th Street, south of Newport Avenue, will be closed.
- Northbound leg of the 14th Street roundabout.

Access to all businesses along Newport Avenue will be open through construction.
GENERAL PROJECT NOTES
- Access to all area businesses along the construction corridor will be maintained.
- Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
- Daytime work hours are in effect from 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
- The ‘Tree Preservation and Removal Overview Exhibits’ can be found on the project website. These exhibits provide design details about each tree being removed and where new trees will be planted.
- There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.

- EMS, buses, and other delivery/service providers have been included in the project updates distribution list.
- Please help us spread the word to your clients, customers, and delivery personnel regarding detouring and closures.
