Re-opening of the southbound lane of 14th Street between Newport Ave. and Galveston Ave.

  • Paving is scheduled and with that, re-opening of the southbound lane of 14th Street between Newport Av and Galveston Av is projected for early next week. The 14th Street west side intersections of NW Lexington Av and NW Ithaca Av will also be reopened at this time.  Final lift paving of this entire section will require another brief closure of this segment when the northbound lane is completed. This closure is anticipated to take place the week of August 13.
  •  The southeast leg of the Newport Av Roundabout will be closed beginning Tuesday, July 31 for up to 10 days. Detours will include using NW Portland Av between College Way and 12th Street.
  • Open House Reminder: The City of Bend will host an open house at the Westside Village Magnet School, 1101 NW 12th Street, Monday evening August 6, from 5:30 – 7 pm. Information and graphics will be presented regarding Phase 2 construction of 14th Street, the segment between NW Galveston Av and NW Albany Av.
  • Phase 2 construction is scheduled to begin the week of August 6 with crews working on waterline and storm sewer crossings. Traffic control will include flaggers directing vehicles through the affected areas.  The full segment closure is not scheduled to begin until after Labor Day. Once again, the City of Bend and Cascade Natural Gas will be partnering on this section of work.

  • August 6th: Public Open House to discuss Phase 2 (See above)
  • Week of August 13th: Paving of Northbound, 14th Street between Newport Av and Galveston Av
  • Week of August 13th: Final lift paving, both directions, 14th Street between Newport Av and Galveston Av. This completes this segment of the project except for remaining landscaping.
  • Week of August 20th: Northbound closure of 14th Street between Albany Av and Galveston Av

September

  • Week of September 3rd:  Full closure of 14th St. between Albany Av and Galveston Av

October

  • By end of month – 14th Street Reconstruction Project is completed
