Reed Market Road Open Houses set for Nov. 8

The City of Bend is holding two public open houses to preview the current designs of the Reed Market Road corridor from 3rd Street to 27th Street. Both meetings will be held on Thursday, November 8 in the Bend Senior Center, 1600 SE Reed Market Road. A daytime meeting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an identical evening meeting will follow from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Both events are drop-in with no formal presentation planned.

At the open houses, the project team will review the updated design plans, which reflect input received at public workshops held in August. Corridor features include three lanes with medians, bike lanes, sidewalks, landscaping, illumination and a new bridge and traffic signal at American Lane. A new, multi-lane roundabout at 15th St. will be constructed along with other intersection improvements. A railroad quiet zone analysis is currently underway.

The total project budget for Reed Market Rd. is $18 million with construction set to start in summer 2013. Funding is provided by the 2011 voter-approved Transportation Bond program. Three roundabouts that are also part of the bond program will be completed this fall.
