Safe Parking Code Work

City Council is considering code changes that would allow certain property owners to allow overnight parking in up to three vehicles or up to six vehicles/huts/tents for people experiencing homelessness. Sites could not charge for overnight use and must provide sanitation facilities. At the sites with up to six vehicles, case management, authorization from the City, and a neighborhood meeting would be required. Review the proposed Safe Parking Code. Right now, a similar Safe Parking Program is operating under the City’s COVID-19 Emergency Order. These proposed code changes would make that program more permanent, beyond the emergency order.
