September – October Construction Update
September
- The full closure of 14th St. between Albany Av and Galveston Av is in effect. 14th Street traffic is being detoured at the Simpson Roundabout and Galveston Roundabout to Mt Washington with business and local access remaining open between Simpson and Albany.
- Parrilla and Taco Salsa are currently accessible from Galveston Av, near the intersection with 14th Street.
- Landscaping activities are underway on the north end of 14th Street between Galveston Av and Newport Av,
- The Simpson Av Roundabout will undergo final striping in early September. The work will take place at night and under flagger conditions so as to minimize traffic impacts.
- School is back in session this week. Be aware of an increase in vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.
- September will also include a couple of Saturday workdays, beginning this Saturday, the 8th, to expediate both improvements and schedule.
- Cascade Natural Gas and other Utilities will complete several system upgrades during the full closure. Upgrades will extend from the north side of the Galveston Roundabout to Commerce Av. The work will be executed concurrent to the full closure and city project to reduce the overall impact to the surrounding community and travelling public.
October
- By month’s end – 14th Street Reconstruction Project is completed
- Tree plantings for entire project between Simpson Av to NW Newport Av are scheduled to be completed during the month of October
