Sprinkler Spruce Up
With about 60 percent of all Bend’s water use occurring at the residential level, Bend homeowners have a real responsibility to make sure they are using water efficiently and being good stewards of this natural resource. The City of Bend encourages all homeowners, business owners and property managers to make sure the water they’re using for irrigation is used efficiently. This means conducting regular inspections of your irrigation system, making sure the backflow assembly is connected and functioning properly, adjusting sprinklers to direct all water to the landscape and keeping it off area sidewalks and streets, and selecting a program that is appropriate for your landscape.
Once your irrigation system is “spruced up”, the City encourages water customers to find out how much water their irrigation system uses. This can be done with one of the free irrigation rain gauges and pamphlets located at City Hall. This early in the growing season landscapes need far less water than most think. Water is our most precious natural resource. Please do your part to eliminate waste.
