UGB discussion at Oregon League of Conservation Voters

The Oregon League of Conservation Voters hosted a discussion about the city’s work on the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) plan with City of Bend Planner Brian Rankin on Nov. 21 at the Broken Top Bottle Shop. Rankin gave some 40 attendees an overview of the project’s background, an update on the process and information about how to get involved in the future. The conversation included topics such as how to the UGB process could consider the environmental impacts associated with different land use patterns, the importance and difficulties associated with increasing infill in the existing city and the relationships between land use and public infrastructure systems such as bike lanes, pedestrian improvements, water and wastewater systems.
