UGB discussion highlighted
The Bend Chamber’s Oct. 2 “What’s Brewing in Your Community” series focused on the UGB topic and featured Bend City Councilors Sally Russell and Mark Capell and Bend’s principle planner Brian Rankin.
Revising the UGB plan is a huge task that’s comprised of many moving parts: various infrastructure plans, population growth predictions and economic needs inventories. The speakers shared concerns about keeping the process as efficient and effective as possible.
Councilors said the public cares about where their city’s border falls and where high-density development will go. They want to know: what will our city look like in 20 years? Getting the public involved with making these decisions is important to all city leaders.
While the exact structure of the process is still unknown, likely opportunities will include public meetings, online surveys and citizen committee input.
