Weekly Construction Update Week of October 7th
ROAD CLOSURES
A full road closure will be in place at Golden Gate Place through late October. 15th Street will continue to be closed to southbound traffic at Ferguson Road with local access to Chloe Lane.
Construction activities for the upcoming week include:
- Expect posted speeds of 15 mph when entering the roundabout due to traffic modifications on 15th Street.
- Please be prepared for intermittent flagging through the roundabout.
- Pedestrian access near the roundabout construction is being maintained; however, it is limited. Traffic is going in the opposite direction. Please remember to look both ways when crossing.
- Stage II work on the 15th Street and Murphy Road roundabout continues this week with construction of the curb and sidewalks, paving, electrical work, and installation of remaining storm drainage facilities.
- Waterline installation work is continuing parallel to the BNSF railroad tracks on Bend Parks and Recreation District and Bend-LaPine School District property.
FALL SAFETY DRIVING TIPS
Weather conditions can be unpredictable in the fall in Bend! Follow these safety tips to help you stay safe on the road.
- CHANGES IN WEATHER: Sudden changes in temperatures can make for hazardous driving. Be aware of slippery ice and frost areas.
- SHORTER DAYS & DARKER COMMUTING HOURS: The sun is setting earlier this time of year and daylight hours of the day are becoming shorter, resulting in darker driving conditions. Turn your headlights on to see and for others to see you.
- FALLING LEAVES: Fallen leaves can cause slippery roads and obscure traffic lines. The best way to be safe while driving on wet leaves is to treat leaves like ice: brake slowly and avoid excessive speeds.
- WATCH FOR DEER: Deer are most often seen crossing roads in the evening and early morning, particularly around dusk and dawn. If you see one deer on a road or highway, expect that there will be more. Don’t swerve your vehicle to avoid hitting a deer. (Although this may be odd; but if a collision with a deer is inevitable, it is important to maintain control of the vehicle.)
