Weekly Road and Traffic Report for the Week of April 26-May 4

For the Week of April 26-May 4:

  • Earth Day Special Event – This celebration of earth day occurs April 26, 11 AM – 3:30 PM. Full Road closure with detour:
    •  Kansas Avenue between NW Bond Street and NW Lava Road.
  • China Hat Road between Knott Road and Mountain High Drive for a canal piping project, full road closure with detour, begins April 28.
  • Intersection of SW Century Drive and SW Innovation Way for permanent roadway striping, flagging through mini roundabout, April 30 – May 2, 9 AM – 3:30 PM.
  • Intersection of Deschutes Market Road and NE Yeoman Road for roundabout construction, full road closure with detour, April 14th – July 2025.
  • City of Bend Street Paving – The City of Bend Transportation and Mobility Department (TMD) will be doing some street paving on Bend’s westside. Expect road closures with local access for the duration of work. Work is anticipated to begin April 14th. Affected Roads listed below:
    • NW 15th Street between NW Ithaca Avenue and NW Kingston Avenue.
    • NW Jacksonville Avenue between NW 15th Street and NW Kingston Avenue.
    • NW Lexington Avenue between NW 14th Street and NW Kinston Avenue.
    • NW Union Avenue between NW Newport Avenue and NW Lexington Avenue.
    • NW Cumberland Avenue between NW 14th Street and NW 15th Street.
  • Brosterhous Road – between Rolen Avenue and Franke Lane will have infrastructure improvements, full road closure with detour, April 14 – May 9.
  • Olney Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvements – This project will install updated bicycle & pedestrian infrastructure along Olney Avenue and Portland Avenue between the Portland Avenue bridge and Second Street. Replacement sewer and water mains will also be installed with this project. The work began Feb. 3 – Fall 2025. For more information, visit the Olney Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvements Project website. A full intersection closure (with detour) will occur to begin the project with the closed street sections listed below.
    • NW Wall Street between NW Revere Avenue and NW Lafayette Avenue.
    • NW Portland Avenue between NW First Street and NW Wall Street.
    • NW Olney Avenue between NW Wall Street and NE Second Street (including intersection).
  • Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project, Phase 2 – This project will provide water distribution system upgrades to the Awbrey Butte area with eight interrelated water improvement subprojects. For more information, visit the Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project website.
    • Portland Avenue from Ninth Street to First Street: Full road closure and local access only lasting through winter. Detour to use Ninth Street to Newport Avenue to Wall Street.
    • Ninth Street to Portland Avenue: Work under flagging for the installation of catch basins. To be determined on exact date – weather dependent.
  • Midtown Crossing Project (Second Street work) – A multiphase project that will replace the water main from Greenwood Avenue to Franklin Avenue in preparation for the full reconstruction occurring next spring. Phase 2 – 4 occurs from Oct. 21 – Spring 2025. Southbound lane closure with local access will occur in its entirety. Current road section work listed below.     • Second Street between NE Irving Avenue and NE Greeley Avenue.
  • NW Harriman Street between NW Kearney Avenue and NW Greenwood Avenue for infrastructure work associated with the Deschutes County Courthouse, full road closure, began July 24, 2024
  • SE 27th Street between Stevens Road and Ferguson Road for sewer main and roundabout construction, full road closure with bypass road, Completion spring 2025
  • NE Cooley Road sidewalk closure on the north side of the street between NE 18th Street and Ranch Village Drive for the construction of NE Andesite Street, March 17 through late May 2025. Lane shift on NE Cooley Road between NE 18th Street and Ranch Village Drive for water line work, April 30- May 30.
     

Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors. Always exercise increased caution within construction zones. Drivers should use designated detour routes. Nearby residential streets are for local traffic only.

 

Any road closure not listed within this report, please submit a service request to notify the city of any potentially unpermitted work within City right of way. Please visit the Transportation and Mobility Department to submit.
