Weekly Road and Traffic Report for the Week of March 18 – 24

For the Week of March 18 – 24:

  • Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project, Phase 1 – This project will provide water distribution system upgrades to the Awbrey Butte area with eight interrelated water improvement subprojects. For more information, visit the Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project website.
    • The Portland Avenue bridge is opening again on Monday March 18. The planned opening is contingent on weather conditions. 
    • NW Ninth Street (Roanoke Avenue to Trenton Avenue): Intermittent full road closures of Ninth Street between Trenton Avenue and Roanoke Avenue with a detour on NW 10th Street and Roanoke Avenue.
    • Intersection of Portland Avenue and NW Ninth Street: This intersection will be under flagging for one day while the 24-inch water main within Ninth Street is being tied into the distribution system.
    • Intersection of NW Ninth Street and Quincy Avenue: Intermittent access closures to Quincy from NW Ninth Street for concrete work and tie-in for 24-inch water main within Ninth Street.
    • Portland Avenue (Awbrey Road to Wall Street): Last day of full road closure with a detour on Awbrey Road, Newport Avenue, and Wall Street will be Monday, March 18th.
    • Shevlin Park Road (NW Crossing Dr to Mt Washington Dr): Westbound Lane closure on Shevlin park Road will conclude at the end of March15. Shevlin Park Road and Mount Washinton Roundabout:
      • During the day: All legs of roundabout open to traffic.
      • During the night (March 17 – March 24 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.): Southeast quadrant of Roundabout will be closed to traffic (Northbound approach and eastbound exit). A detour will be on Mount Washington Drive (Southbound), Skyliners Road (westbound), Lemhi Pass Drive (Northbound), NW Crossing Drive (Northbound), and Shevlin Park Road (westbound).
  • SW Simpson Avenue between SW Mount Washington Drive and SW 15th Street for a sewer manhole installation, single lane closure with flagging, March 25 – 27.



Ongoing Closures:

  • Bend North Corridor, ODOT Project – Infrastructure improvements along Highway 97 from Empire Avenue to Grandview Drive. Highway 97 will also be realigned to allow free flowing movement. Various types of traffic control will be implemented during construction. Expect additional delays throughout this segment of the corridor. Expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
    • Cooley Road between Highway 97 and Hunters Circle will be closed for construction of the overhead crossing of the new highway alignment, expected duration of two weeks with expected start of March 14, additional delays may occur along highway 97 during this time.
  • NW Shevlin Park Road between NW Crossing Drive and NW College Way for a gas main installation, single lane closure with lane shifts, began Dec. 26.
  • Cooley Road between Highway 20 and Hunnel Road for infrastructure and roadway improvements, full road closure with detour, began Dec. 26.
  • Wilson Corridor Improvements Project – Street improvements on Wilson from Second Street to 15th Street. For more information visit the Wilson Project website. This is a multiphase project with various intersections and road closures throughout its entirety.
    • Wilson Avenue between SE Second Street and SE Third Street has a westbound closure with detour.
    • Wilson Avenue between SE Third Street and SE Fourth Street has a full road closure with detour.
    • No left turn lanes in any direction at this intersection, began Feb. 8.
    • Third Street traffic will be shifted to one lane between SE Railroad Street SE Taft Avenue. Please note, blue cones are directing business access.

Future Road Closures:

  • SW 18th Street between SW Simpson Avenue and SW Forest Ridge Avenue for infrastructure improvements, full road closure with detour, begins March 25.
  • Parrell Road between Badger Road and Rae Road for a sewer main installation, full road closure with detour, April 8 – May 17.

Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors. Always exercise increased caution within construction zones. Drivers should use designated detour routes. Nearby residential streets are for local traffic only.

 

Any road closure not listed within this report, please submit a service request to notify the city of any potentially unpermitted work within City right of way. Please visit the Transportation and Mobility Department to submit.
